Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I write this memo today informing you of the successful ratification of the proposed union contract. I would like to personally thank Matt Huntsman, Frank Rivers, Karen “Nikki” Weeks, Tommy Anderson, and Barry Wilkes for being valuable members of the negotiations committee for Local 647. T&D was well-represented by these individuals. Also, I would like to thank all the individuals at the service centers that helped me present the proposed contract changes and Josh Renfroe for being our election Judge.
When I presented the contract to you all, I told you we still had an outstanding issue regarding the Annuity. As I draft this memo, that issue has yet to be resolved. The company’s total rewards department (Retirement, Insurance, Team-sharing) is preparing a draft to present to the Board of Directors who will then decide whether or not to go with our plan over their own. I currently do not have a timeframe for that decision; but, as soon as I get confirmation from the company either way, I will promptly inform the membership.
If you had a qualifying event for paid parental leave in the first quarter of the year, please get into contact with me regarding your timeframe on taking your leave.
All other aspects of the contract will be retroactive dating back to October 1st, including all pay raises associated with the contract. We are working with the company to get contract books finalized and ready for print. These books will be distributed to the stewards as soon as printing is completed, and the stewards will consequently distribute them to the members.
Lastly, I would like to take the time to thank everyone of you for your dedication and patience. I know these are trying times and rest assured the Local union is working diligently to ensure the fair and honest treatment of all our members.
Fraternally yours,
Brian Erwin
